Sell More Travel Online

You can fill your tours, hotel rooms, and other travel packages, even in the toughest of markets -- if you know what to do.

Hi, I'm Dan Kaplan, and by day, I'm a Vice President with a national online marketing company.

Day in and day out, I'm discovering ways to automate online marketing, to make the internet do more work so my clients can do less.

I have managed hundreds of online campaigns and served hundreds of clients in dozens of industries, but my favorite is travel, because I'm a travel junkie...more on that in a second.

On this site and in my forthcoming eBook, I share years of experience in building and managing websites, search campaigns, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), email campaigns, social media, and writing for the web.Read more

Good day of writing

Yesterday, I wrote about 12 pages of Volume 1 of The Online Travel Marketing Guidebook. After nearly a year of planning, it's becoming tangible! I'm happy with what I wrote yesterday, probably because it was so easy for me to write. I've been living this stuff for 13 years and had worked on the outline all month. Working on the Online Travel Marketing Guidebook, finally

With three kids it has been a challenge to carve out time to write my Travel Marketing Guidebook, but Jill has graciously given me the entire weekend to just write. Looking forward to it. I have so much to say on the topic, and have been planning to write this guide for nearly a year now.

Starting a Search Campaign

Last night I started setting up a Google Ad Words campaign for a client, Ole Spain cultural walking tours (www.olespain.com). Check out their site. They've got a great niche product, and they've graciously allowed me to blog about them and share the issues we face and conquer while using the internet to fill their tours.

The first thing we did was make a massive list of related keywords. (You can learn how to do this yourself with my FREE Online Travel Marketing Guide - Finding the Right Keywords for your Travel Business.)

Since they're on a limited budget, we took a strategy that would  Read more

Magellan Travel Marketing Blog

The journey of a thousand miles begins with...well you know. This site has existed in my mind for some time. The first step sounds so simple: just begin.

There are many blogs about travel marketing. Too many. Having read most of them, I'm struck that most are the same content, the same press releases, reviews of good marketing efforts, announcements of new social media websites for travelers. There are some really good posts, which I share on my blog roll.

This one is different. It's dedicated to the nuts and bolts -- practical advice based on experience -- of travel marketing online. On these pages and in my forthcoming eBooks, I will explain...   Read more
